The Golden Thread in therapy refers to ‘threading’ of elements of the therapeutic treatment resulting in the therapist and client traveling on a path towards healing. Does the presenting issue relate to the assessment performed? Do the issues outlined in the assessment show up in the treatment plan? Are the treatment notes reflecting what was referenced on the treatment plan? If the answer to each of these questions is yes, the golden thread has been achieved. This course supports best practices for achieving the Golden Thread in the practitioner’s day to day practice with clients.

Scott Turton has worked in clinical and management capacities in human services both in Canada and in the United States. His expertise spans mental health and substance disorders, with a recent focus on brief solution-focused interventions and integrating behavioral health services in primary care settings. A keen interest in the use of technology in behavioral health has driven him to develop skills in project management, implementing electronic medical records in both inpatient and outpatient settings, designing and customizing electronic workflows, and developing analytics to support clinical and business decision making.
